Things I have learned in my life so far

Sagmeister Inc. is a graphic design company in New York City. Stefan Sagmeister started a project based on a list in his diary where he wrote down things he has learned in his life so far. For example, after running a charity project for homeless in NYC for three years, Sagmeister learned "Starting a charity is surprisingly easy, running a charity is surprisingly hard". There is also a book published, consisting of 15 unbound signatures in a laser-cut slipcase. For this project, Sagmeister won the Leadaward 2008.

Kibera photo graffiti project

JR is a 25-year-old Parisian (from Tunisian and Eastern European parents), living in a middle-class background. He describes himself as a graffiti artist, but started taking photographs when he found a camera on the Paris metro as a 17-year-old. He is now, in his own words, a hybrid 'photograffeur', who pastes enormous black-and-white photographic canvases of eyes and noses and mouths in various urban environments.
JR has just returned from Kenya, where he and his 10 unpaid assistants transformed Kibera, one of Africa’s biggest slums, into a vast exhibition space. They plastered the people's portraits on train carriages and on the roofs of their houses. (Text: designboom)

Siggi Eggertsson

Siggi Eggertsson, born 1984, is an illustrator from Iceland who studied at Iceland Academy of the Arts in Reykjavík and Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee. After working in New York and London, he now lives and works in Berlin. His work is so amazing, that I agree with So-Me (a blogging Ed Banger dude) you won't find one work that isn’t good on his website. Just check out his Illustrations for the 2nd album of Gnarls Barkley, "The Odd Couple".
The above illustration "Plein Air was an idea that I got last year when I was living in Berlin. I wanted to modernize the working methods of the Impressionists, who took their canvases outside and painted what was in front of them. My idea was to take my computer outside, and draw what i saw. This image was drawn on top of a 12 floor building in Friedrichshain. The battery in my computer does not last for ever, so I had to do it in several turns. This is an ongoing project." Taiji Matsue

"Taiji Matsue takes large format photos which he then studies and isolates particular scenes of people that interest him, scenes which he may not even have noticed at the time of taking the photo and only discovered upon examining the negative. Cell is a collection of these details cut out from the bigger picture." (cibone.com)

Tilt-Shift-Maker

"Tilt-shift photography refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium format cameras. Miniature faking is a post-processing technique, which involves selectively blurring a photo to simulate the narrow depth of field found in macro photography and some tilt-shift photography, making the image appear to be of a miniature model." (Wikipedia)
You can fake this with photoshop - or more easily with tiltshiftmaker.com. The above photograph of Zurich was processed on this website within a few seconds.
